For tiny pigs this size it is VERY important not to over feed. We provide the proper nutrition for our pigs. We do NOT inbreed or under feed our pigs to get their small size. Our babies are started off and fed a nutritionally complete balanced diet of Mazuri mini pig youth food. Your pig will stay on the
youth grain until 4 months old, and then you will switch to Mazuri mini pig active adult. As the weeks go by you can start introducing them to veggies and fruits. These little pigs are very small and do NOT require a lot of food. for more information, visit : http://roosminipigs.com/2016/12/28/bathing-your-new-pig/
When you first get your baby, only give ¼ cup of Mazuri mini pig youth food in the morning and repeat in the evening. Once your baby is on adult active you will want to increase feed to ½ cup in morning and repeat in the evening. You may need to increase this a bit it just depends on the pigs metabolism.
In between feedings you can offer some veggies and fruits. PLEASE understand all of my pigs are under 40 lbs (full grown). If you overfeed them, they will gain weight which is unhealthy for their petite bodies. Your pig should stay on food specialized for mini pigs!
NEVER feed your pig dog or cat food! NEVER feed your piggy AVOCADO or CHOCOLATE these are toxic to pigs. Pigs also have a salt toxicity issues. NEVER feed your pig salted items such as potato chips or salted popcorn. Air popped corn is fine as an occasional treat.
Other great snacks you can use to train your pig are grapes, apples, animal crackers (NOT frosted) carrots, and cheerios are fine but please in moderation.
PLEASE DO NOT FEED YOUR PIG FROM THE TABLE YOUR PIG WILL TRAIN YOU. IT IS HARD TO RESIST SUCH A CUTE FACE BUT IF YOUR PIG GRUNTS AND CRIES FOR FOOD WHILE YOU ARE EATING IGNORE THE PIG OTHERWISE YOU WILL HAVE A HUGE PROBLEM IN THE FUTURE.
Your pig must know that you are the boss and in control at all times, you cannot give these little pigs an inch because they will take a mile! Pigs are very smart and they can learn to open lower kitchen cabinets if food is in there. Always ensure that you either keep food and poisons above the pig’s
reach or you put child locks on the doors.
Your new baby will require fresh water at ALL times. Their snouts are very strong and can easily tip their water dish. You need to either have a heavy dish they cannot tip or you will need to
secure it so it cannot be tipped over. Since pigs do not sweat, they must always have water! For a wonderful selection of supplements, food and supplies we recommend going to…
